The deal may be done to merge hometown Continental and United Airlines, with Continental losing its name and Houston headquarters. A conference call was just held to announce the merger with Continental CEO Jeff Smisek — who will head the new mega airline — calling it, "A match made in heaven."

Heaven does not feature Houston as a world headquarters, but it does include one familiar logo: Continental's criss-crossed sphere logo and cerulean blue color scheme will remain, down to the serif font that will now read "United Airlines."

It seems like an easy decision from a design standpoint. Continental's abstract globe is worlds better than United's blended red-and-blue UA that screamed 1970s.

So when you head to IAH — where the combined airline will still have a major hub — at least you'll know what to look for.
